★ Three Gorges
Three Gorges, the most spectacular section of the Yangtze River, is famous for the breathtaking scenery and rich cultural and historical remains. It is praised as nature's art gallery and wonderland. The Three Gorges Dam, began in 1994, will also rank as the world’s largest hydroelectric dam when it is completed in 2009, greatly enhancing the reputation of Three Gorges.
★ Ciqikou Ancient Town
Ciqikou was first built during the Xianping Reign of the Song Dynasty (998-1004). Then, it became a commercial dock both by land and water in the Ming Dynasty. At the end of Qing Dynasty, the town witnessed its florescence and was reputed as Lesser Chongqing.
★ Dazu Rock Carvings
Dazu rock carvings are known as the Magic Pearl of Oriental Art. Listed as a World Heritage Site, the Dazu Rock Carvings contain some 50,000 statues, with over 100,000 Chinese characters forming inscriptions and epigraphs. Dating from the 9th to 13th century, these carvings are considered to be the best representatives of the latest phase of rock art in China

Arriving in Chongqing, the first thing that will come to your eyes is not the huge advertising banner of hotpot or the beautiful girls on the streets but the porters with their bamboo poles. In Chongqing, they are called affectionately "Bang Bang" by local people. They are the most distinctive and traditional group, and also an indispensable part in this city.
Chongqing is a mountain city built on steep hills. Unlike other cities in China, Chongqing's streets are narrow and full of steep slopes. Some locations are even inaccessible to traffic and transportation there appears difficult and laborious. Fewer people would like to or are able to carry their heavy things along all the ways or steps up and down. Then Bang Bang appears. They scatter everywhere, such as the wharf, bus situation, outside of the shops and the streets. They live by carrying goods for people. Their equipment is simply a stick and a piece of string. The final payment depends on the weight of the goods, the distance they carry and also hirer’s bargaining skills.
Chongqing Hotpot
When in Rome do as the Romans do. When you travel to Chongqing, one of the most interesting things recommended to you is eating Hot Pot, the signature dish in this city. Yes, it is spicy and hot….. Then are you ready?
Hot pot is the most famous and favorite snack in Chongqing.
It was said that there are about 51,000 hot pot companies in Chongqing, hence the name “capital of hot pot”. Chongqing hot pot is noted for its spicy, hot, delicious, scalding yet fresh and tender taste as well as a harmonious and warm atmosphere.
When eating hot pot, people gather around a small pot which is filled with flavorful and nutritious soup base. The soup could be spicy, pure and combo as you like. The pot is heat up by charcoal, electric or gas. A little bowl of special sauce, generally containing sesame paste, garlic paste, or other mater, will be prepared for you. Meat, fish, various kinds of vegetables call can be boiled in the soup. When they are well boiled, you then dip them in your bowl.
Beauty
Chongqing is abundant with beautiful girls. The climate there is perennially warm and moisture which make the skin of Chongqing girls tender and white. Besides, the hot weather and the chili in local food also keep girls in perfect shape. Chongqing grils are born to have bright eyes, white teeth and a forthright character, which result in their strong personality, infinite glamor, burning passion and proper behavior. Some people who once visited there even said that “When you arrive in Chongqing, you will find yourself married too early.”

Hot Pot
The most famous thing in Chongqing is Hot Pot. Chongqing Hot Pot has long been the symbol of Chongqing's food culture. Once you enter the city, you can even smell the aroma of hotpot in the air. Wandering in the street, you will find that nearly each street or lane has several hot pot restaurants. More surprisingly, almost all the restaurants are crowded with hot pot favors.
Jiefangbei
Built in 12 March 1940, Jiefangbei stands in the most prosperous downtown of Chongqing. Jiefangbei is formerly known as the Monument of Victory in the War of Resistance. It was renamed as the People’s Liberation Monument by Liu Bocheng on 1 October 1950. Now, Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street has become one the most prosperous and famous commercial streets in China.
Three Gorges
Three Gorges area is the joint place of Ba, Chu and Shu cultural. It also offers some fantastic scenery on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Today, the Three Gorges Dam Project, as the biggest hydropower project in the world, further enhances the fame of this area.
Capital of Bridge
Chongqing is renowned as the Capital of Bridge for its 13 bridges over Yangtze River. There are still 3 bridges under construction. The quantity and type of Chongqing’s bridges make this city the limelight of the world.
Capital of Hot Spring
Chongqing boasts a rich resource of hot springs. More than 40 sites of hot springs have been found and 20 of them have been developed with a daily water yield of 50,000 cubic meters. Hence the name Capital of Hot Spring.
Night View
Chongqing is famous for its night scenery. When night falls, the whole city becomes the sea of lights. Take a bird’s view from the hill, the sleepless city looks like a splendid palace floating on water.
Chongqing belongs to subtropical monsoon climate with the average annual temperature of 19.2℃. The four seasons are characterized as an early spring, a hot summer, a rainy autumn and a warm winter. January is the coldest month with the average lowest temperature of 6-8ºC and the July is hottest with the average temperature of 29ºC and the extreme highest temperature of 43.8ºC.
Chongqing receives abundant rainfall, averaging about 1000 to 1400 millimeters annually. There is plenty of night rain in summer, especially in July and august, hence the saying “Ba mountains night rain”. Chongqing is also famous for its fog. There is much fog from the end of autumn to early spring with at least 68 foggy days a year, hence the name “Fog City”.
Travel Chongqing in summer, thin and cool clothes is needed. Take suntan oil, sunbonnet, and sunglasses to protect you from the sun. An umbrella or raincoat is necessary. In spring and autumn, sweater, jacket or dust coat are recommended. Clothing should be simple and consist of layers which can be added or removed as temperature varies during the day. The winter in Chongqing sometimes is very cold. So prepare down jacket, sweater and jeans. A warm windbreaker and stout, comfortable shoes are especially recommended.
Check the sanitary condition of restaurant before deciding where to eat.
Avoid eating in roadside stalls since the sanitary is irresponsible.
Delicious and tasty as the Hot Pot is, it is a little irritant to your stomach. So. Don’t eat too much or too frequent.
Chongqing’s summer season sees exceedingly high temperatures. Medicines for preventing sunstroke in summer are necessary.
Raincoat or umbrella is necessary especially in the intersection period of the Spring and Summer.
Since Chongqing cuisines are characterized by hot and spicy flavor. So take care of your stomach.
