Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Old Town of Lijiang

Also known as Dayan Town, this old town has a history of more than 800 years. It is mainly inhabited by the Naxi ethnic group. Consisting of clean streams, colorful cobbled streets, age-old swaying willow trees, age-old buildings and stone bridges, this old town always attract people with its unique atmosphere and its ancient yet simple sense of "Harmony of Heaven and Man."

Tiger Leaping Gorge

Tiger Leaping Gorge is believed to be the deepest gorge in the world. It is well known for its breathtaking and imposing scenery.

Naxi Ancient Music

Baisha village

Lijiang is a tourist city. All the restaurants in this town have Chinese and English menu. Besides the local Naxi-flavored dishes, Sichuan cuisine, Guangdong cuisine, Korean cuisine, Japanese cuisine and Italian cuisine all can be found there.

3.Accommodation

When travel in Lijiang, the local hostel is an ideal place to lodge. There are about 260 hotels in the old town, mostly are siheyuan with a double-layer wooden building. The courtyard is often dotted with flowers and grass. Some furniture such as bed, cabinet and chair in these hostels are from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Some owners of these hostels are locals. They are conversable and kind, so they will be very glad to answer all your questions about this town. Most of the hostels provide free internet access and coin-op. Generally, the price of standard room in these hostels rages from 40 to 150RMB. But in peak time, the price will be a little higher.

Laomofang Hostel is the most famous one among all folk hotels in Lijiang. Small bridges, flowing waters, zigzagging path dotted this courtyard and add much luster to it. Peter, the owner of this hostel, is once a foreign traveler. Lijiang, as one of his traveling destinations, thoroughly conquered him with its profound culture and splendid folk customs. Then he finished his tour and opened this hostel there.

Another recommended hostel is Wanggucheng Hostel. On the second floor of this hostel, people can have a panoramic view of Lijiang old town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Hence the name.

Besides, there are also manly star hotels in Lijiang for your choice. They are mostly located outside the old town.

The average annual temperature in Lijiang is 12.6 ℃ without drastic changes. Warm days and cool days succeed each other alternately. In Lijiang, temperature difference during a day is quite huge. So you have to take T-shirt as well as sweater and coat there.

The rainy season in Lijiang lasts from May to October. The annual rainfall averages about 1,000mm. Remember to prepare a raincoat or umbrella if you come here during this period.

Besides, Suntan oil, sunglasses and hat are also needed.
