Shaolin Temple

Founded in AD 496 during the Northern Wei dynasty, Shaolin Temple is regarded as the birthplace of Chinese Buddhism. The temple, which has witnessed the rise and fall of many dynasties, is famous for its Martial Arts (Kung Fu). Each year, it attracts countless Kong Fu fans at home and abroad.

Longmen Grottoes

First carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), it is one of the three most valuable Buddhist cave and rock carvings in China. Totally there are 1,352 caves, 785 niches, over 97,000 statues and 3,680 inscribed stone tablets along the one kilometer long cliff of Mt. Longmen of Luoyang. Exquisitely caved and beautifully shaped with a vivid and delicate appearance, the Longmen Grottoes are known as a bright pearl in the artistic treasure.

White Horse Temple

Established by the Han Dynasty in 68 AD when Buddhism started to spread, this temple is believe to be the first Buddhist temple built by the government in China. It was regarded as the "originating court" and the "cradle of Chinese Buddhism" by the Buddhist disciples.

1.Avoid speaking loudly in the temples.

2.Never touch the religious articles in the temples without permission.

3.When greeting monks in the temple, it is respectful to put your hands together in a prayer position and bow the head slightly. Hand-shaking and embracing are improper here.
