Suzhou vacations

Jiangnan (area south of Yangtze River) is an attractive phrase in China, not only to Chinese but also to foreigners, since it always reminds us of the stunning scenery that is characterized by the little bridges, flowing waters, archaized houses, unsophisticated folkway and elegant gardens. Suzhou vacations, as the first choice to begin your tour to Jiangnan area, are recommended.

When speaking of Suzhou, people often repute it as the “Paradise on Earth” or “Oriental Venice”. Suzhou, the cradle of Wu Culture, is a city with a history of over 2,500 years. The long history and splendid culture has endowed this city with many historical sites and romantic legends. The elegant classical gardens, delicate bridges, tiled houses, meandering waters, undulating hills, the numerous scenic spots and historical sites, and the exquisite arts and crafts formed a charming landscape in this city.

  • Humble Administrator's Garden
  • Covering an area of 51,950 square meters, the Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest pf all classical gardens in Suzhou. It is also one of the Four Renowned Gardens in China. • The Grand Canal
  • The Grand Canal, 1,764 km in length, is the longest man-made waterway as well as being the greatest in ancient China. • Tiger Hill
  • Tiger Hill, 3.5 kilometers northwest of Suzhou, is probably the most famous sight of all in the city of Suzhou. With a history of over 2500 years, it is known for its natural beauty and historical sites. The poet Su Dongpo once remarked, “It is a loss to visit Suzhou without seeing the Tiger Hill.”

  • Garden of the Master of the Nets
  • Covering a space of only 5000 sq meters, the Garden of the Master of the Nets is the smallest garden in Suzhou. Small as it is, the garden is yet the most impressive one because of its use of space which creates the illusion of an area that is much greater than its actual size.

  • Lingering Garden
  • Covering an area of 2.3 hectares, the Lingering Garden is the best preserved among all the Suzhou gardens. It is also one of the four most famous gardens in China. It demonstrates a compact layout and a delicate decorative art.

  • Panmen Gate
  • Panmen Gate is the oldest and the most completely preserved part of the ruins of the ancient Suzhou City. With the water and land gates towering side by side, the Panmen Gate is so imposing that it has no parallel in China.
